Bournemouth Crematorium
Today, work commences at Bournemouth Crematorium installing mercury abatement equipment to their cremators. This is a large job and will take some time; it is also bound to cause some disruption to the peaceful use of the crematorium by bereaved families. Among other complications, large congregations (say, over 120) will not be able to take advantage of overflow facilities from the East Chapel; exit and parking of funeral limousines will also be more difficult.
This work is however essential under European Legislation (see Steven Tapper's blog if you are interested in the subject) and we can perhaps be thankful that Bournemouth Council has, as yet, not increased their fees as much as some have (most notably, locally, Southampton) to pay for the project.
