Woodland provides a natural health service

It is encouraging to think that not only are our woodlands beautiful natural environments but, according to Natural England, they have a positive effect upon our well-being. Indeed it is claimed many GPs are prescribing visiting woodlands for the in take of fresh air and exercise for a variety of ailments.

Our forests are often referred to as the ‘lungs of the world’ but perhaps this is to overlook the considerable value we gain at a spiritual level; the very essence of being alive is underlined with every step we take.

It seems appropriate therefore that woodland burial grounds bring new life to their environment and hopefully help brighten the lives of those that visit, particularly when they visit at a time of distress.
